Laura Zawarski is a multilingual violinist with over 10 years of teaching experience with students of all ages and levels. She holds 20 years of training under Michael Rosenbloom (CM Boston Ballet Orchestra Emeritus, Boston Pops), Linda Kistler (Pennsylvania Sinfonia, Allentown Symphony, Bach Festival Orchestra), and Jane Starkman (Handel and Haydn Society, Boston University, Wellesley College). Laura regularly performs, records, and composes for performance venues across New York and Pennsylvania. Laura has been featured on the Today Show, ABC World News Tonight with David Muir, EllenTube, and regularly on Classic.FM for her work in early music education.

Laura specializes her teaching approach to suit individual learning styles, goals, and personal difficulties a student may want to address. With experience teaching young students aged 2+ up to late life learners, Laura understands that violin can offer much more than just a valuable connection with music. With the right approach, violin studies can help soothe anxiety and depression, understand patterns in attention and distraction, and build confidence in one’s self.

Laura has worked with children who are coping with ADD, ADHD, shyness, selective mutism, and anxiety. She is in the process of receiving her certification from CHAAD in teaching methods for students with attention disorders. Upon request, Laura will build a lesson plan with students and parents to help build coping mechanisms that will extend far beyond the classroom. Over the course of time, Laura’s students have improved grades in school, undergone transformations in social environments, and learned to build routines and hold personal responsibility. She’d be happy to discuss any issues you would like to address in your first lesson.

Laura speaks French, Italian, and Russian, and is happy to hold bilingual lessons with students whose native language is not English. She looks forward to meeting you!

Hear What Students Have to Say

Laura was amazing! Daisy really learned so much in the first lesson. Laura has a fun and engaging way about her and delivers her lesson with such clarity that I, as a parent who does not play an instrument, will be able to make sure she is doing the correct thing in practice. Thank you, Laura!
