This is an 8-week long semester. The class is held twice a week: Tuesdays at 7:00 PM and Saturdays at 11:30 AM. 

You may attend once or twice each week. New material is introduced on Wednesday and is repeated on Saturday. The more practice you can get with us, the better!

Classes will be held at NYC Violin Studio, at 260 W 35th St, Suite 204. 

We are holding this class in-person with all Covid precautions in place. We'll socially distance as much as possible and we'll be wearing masks, too.

Also based on our surveys we found that people were having so much fun, they wanted longer classes. So we scheduled just that. Classes are now 60-80 minutes long!

This is a Hybrid Class, so all class times you see also apply to online classes.

Since we'll learn how to tune in this class, you can also attend online this semester!

Here what’s happens once you sign up:

1. First you'll be asked to choose if you want to attend in-person or online. Then you'll have to decide if you want to attend 1x/week or 2x/week. Both the Wednesday and the Saturday class cover the same material, but some students like to get in extra practice and guidance (and it also helps them get in more practice time too.) Students who attend 2x/week regularly always make very good progress. 
2. You’ll be taken to the checkout page. Enter your email and all other info. Once you’ve successfully registered, you’ll be led to the bookmarkable Group Class Info page which walks you through how to schedule, how to attend online and where to find your after-class resources. You’ll also receive a confirmation email with all the links you’ll need, info on class location, etc.
3. Your access to the Absolute Beginner Self-Guided Course will begin immediately, and there you can download your free eBook, the Absolute Beginner Violin eCourse, which serves as the online textbook for the class. Some people like to look ahead. You don’t have to, but you can if you like. You’ll have access to this course for 3 months, so you can review the lessons and videos any time you like, 24 hours a day.
4. You will also have access to the Group Class Resources which contains an archive of everything we’ve done in the more advanced classes online since last summer (a total of 180 hours of classes, plus lessons, PDFs and lesson plans).
5. You’ll be invited to our private WhatsApp chat group, where you’ll receive up-to-the-minute notifications and other awesome updates from your new friends.
6. All students will meet in-person in Midtown West, Manhattan at the named location on the first Wednesday class of the semester (see calendar). Class officially starts at 6:05pm, so arrive at 6:00 to settle in. You’ll bring your violin and everything else that comes in the case (the rosin and bow). There you will receive your free printed copy of the Absolute Beginner Violin Book 1 (this is only available to in-person students).
7. If you don’t have a violin and need to rent one from us, you can do that here, ahead of time.
8. We’ll take a quick few minutes to get to know each other, and then we’ll start right away! 
9. The book was written for this class. Everything is centered around playing as a group. The exercises were written so you can make music with each other even when practicing something simple! By the end of the first class you’ll be able to hold the violin properly, pluck all of strings, be able to read basic sheet music and go home able to practice the bow!
10. Everyone goes home with their violins and books in hand, and practices at home until the next class. A good amount of time would be about 30 minutes a day. You’ll want to get comfortable with the foundational skill we covered, so we can move on to the next skill the next week. To aid you in your practice, you’ll open up the Practice Videos and play right along with us just like you did in class (learning music is easier when you can play with others). You can access this from your computer, laptop, or your phone (on a browser or more conveniently, on our practice app).
11. Then later that week on Saturday, we’ll repeat the class. Anyone who is only scheduled for Saturdays will learn and practice the material for the very first time. We’ll check over your technique to make sure you are on the right track. If we see something that needs fixing, we’ll fix it right then and there so you don’t drill in the wrong habit.

Yes. But if you are a cellist, you will need to sign up at least 3 weeks in advance so we can prepare your materials for you.

Instead of collecting down payments, we use class and lesson packages as a down payment, so before we turn over your violin, we'll need to see that receipt or record.
